WARRANTIES

At East West Design we use quality materials, kiln dried wood, plantation timbers and natural earth friendly recycled timbers, such as pine and teak.  Our furniture pieces are designed and constructed to be sympathetic to the woods need for movement. This design process enables us to offer a durable high quality article at an affordable price.

To have individuality and enduring qualities of solid wood furniture, some allowances have to be made for its natural want to expand and contract depending on its surroundings, even old and recycled timbers continue to move, warp and crack.
However should you encounter significant problems with timber movement then we offer a 12 month structural warranty. This is compliant provided the original proof of purchase is presented and the goods have been used for the purpose of its design.

Our friendly trained staff will be able to advise you on the best furniture range for your needs.

East West Design will repair of replace item/s with a manufacturing defect.
The warranty does not cover items used for commercial purposes or items sold ‘Sold as seen’ or sold as ‘Salvage’. This does not cover expected wear and tear.

We don’t normally give refunds if you simply change your mind or make a wrong selection, an in-store exchange or 12 month credit note may be offered.

Exchanges and refunds can be given where goods are faulty, wrongly described, different from a sample shown to you or don’t do what they are supposed to do.
We offer a back to store warranty. Pick up and delivery is not covered by this warranty.

Please note that images are for illustrated purposes only, some variations may apply. Where possible we strongly encourage all items to be seen in store.

Important: Please retain your invoice for proof of purchase and purchase date.

While at East West Design we endeavor to take great care with our prices and descriptions, we reserve the right to correct errors or misprints and adjust prices where necessary.

We have a massive range of items made in all kinds of materials and finishes.
Many are made exclusively for us this allows many of the items to be changed in size, colour, fittings etc.

We specialize in timber items, but have access to Stone carvers to Glaziers.
With all kinds of trades people in China, Vietnam, Indonesia and Malaysia.

If you’ve looked everywhere and can’t find what you’re looking for, maybe we can find it or make it for you, there’s no harm in asking.

PRODUCT CARE & MAINTAINENCE


General details

Things to consider that will prolong the life and appearance of you purchase.

  • Placing items in direct sun light is not recommended.
  • Placing items in front of air conditioners is not recommended.
  • Lift the item instead of dragging it.
  • Place felt protectors on items that are moved constantly.
  • Regularly check and tighten any loose bolts or fittings.
  • Use fabric chemicals to reduce staining and easy cleaning.
  • Protect tops by using runners and/or place mats.
  • Consider the weight an item is required to hold.

Indoor timber furniture

Timber

Most timber indoor furniture that is not in direct sun light or subjected to heat will simply require to be dusted from time to time with a dry soft cloth or duster.
For more stubborn cleaning use a damp cloth (Water)
You should never use solvents or bleach.

Items that are subjected to sunlight, heat or air-conditioning may be prone to dry out and fade Depending on the item oil and wax treatments will be required. 

Many of our recycled items and rustic designs can benefit from oil treatments or waxing.

Weaves

A soft brush and/or a vacuum will clean up most things from weave furniture.
For more suborn marks try a nail brush and warm water.


Outdoor furniture

Timber care

It's only natural that any timber left to the harsh elements will dry and begin to weather.
To reduce this from happening here are 2 basic means of protection.

  1. Replace the oil that is naturally drawn out
    As timber dries, it lightens and becomes dull, a sure sign that it's time to apply an oil treatment.
    There are many oil treatments available, one of the most popular and inexpensive is Linseed oil.
    A simple means of protection, regular applications are essential.
  2. Sealing with an exterior lacquer or paint
    From natural matt clear coatings to full gloss paints, you're able to match any decor requirement.
    These applications offer great exterior protection and can last for years.
    Be sure to read and follow instructions of whatever product you decide to use.

The Redwood furniture range has a thin coat of lacquer for presentation and provides no protection for outdoor use.
Please ensure that this presentation coat is removed before applying an exterior lacquer or paint.

Fittings and fasteners

From time to time the bolts and fittings may loosen from use, if you find this to be the case it's recommended you tighten them.

Canvas covers & Cushions

The best protection is not to leave them in the sun and rain, storing them when not in use.
There are products available that can retard water absorption and reduce fading.

Plastic weaves on Aluminum

These plastics are UV protected and are made to use outdoors, if the children get a little messy with their ice creams or tomato sauce, use warm water and a nail brush.
Do not use solvents or bleach.
